After the owls we headed over to the nature preserve and photographed the Snowbirds which haven't migrated yet. This was really quite spectacular. It's hard to believe there were thousands more here- they appeared to cover every inch of the field!
We are wanting our "Snowbirds" to go home now as we are very tired of the crowded conditions that winter brings. I don't blame them for wanting our warm Arizona weather but it is time for them to leave!
My deep appreciation for all your views, comments and favs! I was excited to see this on the TP with so many amazing pictures.
For those of you who noted it- the landings and take-offs were actually very easy to capture as one or more birds were doing one or the other about every 10 seconds! The whole lot of them moved closer and closer- which made me very happy as I don't have the most powerful zoom for my camera- so eventually I was able to get this distance. They seemed to be able to spot the smallest of openings because no one landed on top of someone else the whole time I watched. It really was an amazing sight!
Wow! I don't even know where to start! That is a lot of birds. I love the detail you have caught in the birds that are taking off and/or landinG. Terrific subject
Wow - what a catch!!! The perfect timing for the two main birds - and they are in such fabulous positions. The four layer effect is perfect as a background. There just doesn't seem to be any way this could be better!! :)
