I was shooting through 2 panes of glass- dirty glass I must confess- but am quite pleased with this shot of a hummingbird getting some pollen out of one of my Marigolds. It won't appear in the Audubon magazine but I'm happy with it. And yes, the woods behind my house are that green right now.
Amazing capture, Ann! Surely wish it were green here! The grass in our backyard literally sounded "crunchy" under my feet this morning! It is so, so dry and daily temperatures for days on end now anywhere from 95 to 100 degrees F!
Well done. I shot some of a hummingbird in a couple of zinnias. I don't think I had my shutter speed high enough, plus shooting through a screen as well as a window. Really need to get a screen off a window.
Thank you so much for all your views, comments and favs! I have 3 to 4 birds coming to the feeder this year which is exciting enough but if 2 show up at the same time, there's usually fireworks! When that happens every now and then the "loser" will pop over to the flowers. Since I'm working on my laptop by the sliding doors I have my camera with the zoom ready and this time I got "lucky"!
@koalagardens The closest one is either in Philadelphia or NYC and I think the drive time is about the same either way- 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
@randystreat My general setting is ISO 400 at 5.6 (a throw-back to my film days) but since I have the camera on AV- it may have adjusted the setting- I'm not sure. I did have to do some sharpening in post processing.
@bjywamer I am hoping and praying your area will get rain soon!
