Blue Faced Honey Eater

This is the last of the birds who visit our garden for now.

The blue faced honey eater is a very shy bird and it isn't easy to get a photo of him.

Luckily this one thought it was hiding from me in one of our trees

@happypat Yes they do eat nectar. I very often see them on our bird of paradise flowers. They also eat fruit and insects.

@ludwigsdiana I think they are around 28 or 30 cm in length.

@beryl The flash around his eye is green in youngsters and turns blue when they are adults.
