I haven't had a good day today, so after dinner I decided to drive into Nelson Bay and take some photos at the marina. There are some pretty expensive boats in the marina, but this little one caught my eye. I think its seafaring days are over but at least it is a haven for the birdlife in the area. A pied cormorant is taking up residence at the rear of the boat.
Great photo - the more dilapidated the subject the better for me right now... this works well. Love the expensive boats in the background.
it has character. Not the 3M boat we decided was my birthday and christmas pressie though :)
@onewing oh I so want a tinny.. Remember when dad and i went out on the bay to find dolphins..we searched everywhere, and you wouldnt come out on the tinny.. then when we came back and hadnt seen one dolphin you had sat on the shore and watched them all go 'fishing'!!!
@joluise It has got more charm. It seems to be standing proud in the marina. Next to it is an old houseboat, so they look as though they are sticking together against the expensive boats.
@gerry@gamelee Thanks Gerry and Lee. It is a lovely spot. I needed to walk along the breakwater last night and blow away the cobwebs. It was a lovely evening just before sunset and the weather was just right.
@steampowered I think it needs a LOT of TLC. I steered my husband away from it though, he has got enough 'projects' on the go. Never finishes any of them either!
@gypsy6 Yes I do remember that. You went all the way to Hawks Next didn't you and didn't see a single dolphin and I sat at the marina having a cuppa in a cafe and saw loads.
@rhos Thanks Ann. What made me smile about this photo is that this is the scruffiest boat in the marina, but it is being lit up by the sun and all the others are in the shade.
