Main Shrine - Nan Tien Temple by onewing

Main Shrine - Nan Tien Temple

Today our travels took us to the Nan Tien Temple at Berkeley, just south of Wollongong.

Nan Tien Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere and the only one I believe which has only female monks.

This photo is of the main shrine.

I haven't visited here for quite a few years and it was lovely to go back to such a peaceful place on a beautiful sunny day.
Reminds me of one of the temples in the Forbidden Palace in China. however this one looks far more peaceful as it is not swamped by tourists.

lovely photo.

@davidgnc @joluise @winnedreamer Thanks for all your comments. sorry to lump you all together, but with being away I am on catch up now.
It is a beautiful place, it is huge too and doesn't get too crowded. Well worth a visit. Doesn't cost anything to visit.
We had lunch there too, very reasonable. Probably not crowded because it is autumn - 26 degrees yesterday and blue sky so we can't complain!

@bugsy You must be joking. You'd need the NRMA to get me up again. There were more steps, but I wouldn't have got the top of the building in the shot!
