Been too busy today to take a photo so this is one I took a couple of weeks ago in Newcastle.
It is of Nobby's Lighthouse in Newcastle and you can see the Stockton sand dunes in the distance.
I am posting early because David needs to get on the computer to sort out yet another problem, probably caused during our huge storm a few weeks ago.
Even though we have power surge protectors etc on the computer the storm was so severe it still managed to cause damage to the desktop computer. Yesterday had to get a new modem and now we think that the external hard drive which backs up all our documents etc is corrupt, so David has got to sort that one out tonight. At least it is keeping him off the streets ha ha.
I am a bit behind again with catching up on your photos, but hopefully will be able to catch up tomorrow if we get our computer problems sorted out by then. I just need a couple more hours in a day at the moment.
@hermann Thanks Sally. The Stockton dunes are magnificent and cover about 32 km from Stockton in Newcastle to Anna Bay which is quite close to where I live.
Lovely capture! Love the dunes in the background and of course that wonderful lighthouse! I've been to Nobby's Lighthouse before when I was younger and from what I remember it looks as beautiful here as in my memory! :)
@onewing We moved to Oz in 81 when we left Rhodesia. I have been in Bedfordshire now for 5 years. Love both places, I just wish they were closer together!
Sounds as though it was a massive storm Babs...hope you were insured! Loving this beautiful white lighthouse, it's name alone makes me smile. Stunning setting too with those sand dunes in the background!
@paulaw@happypat Thanks so much to both of you. I agree with the name. Don't know how Nobby's Head got its name, must Google it.
We have peanuts out here called Nobby's Peanuts and there is an advert on television where a group of people are at a party and one of the people says "Lets nibble Nobby's nuts" and everyone stares at her. ha ha.
Yes Pat it was a huge storm. Only lasted about 15 minutes but the damage it did was amazing. Trees uprooted, no power for 24 hours, boats beached. We did quite well compared to some. Only lost a couple of huge branches from some of our trees. The storm was bigger than a tornado and smaller than a cyclone.
Beautiful shot Babs!! Just a lovely scene and so well captured.
I did a more private message to Annie on FB and mentioned her on another tribute. It is heartbreaking!
@kathiecb Thanks Kathie. A few weeks before it wasn't quite so green because we had such little rain, but it only takes a couple of days of rain for it to change colour.
@gamelee Thanks so much for the fav Lee. It was a beautiful day and you wouldn't believe that a thunder storm blew in later that evening. Just goes to show how things change out here.
