Bollard Sculptures - Geelong - Day 4

This is the last day of my series of shots of the bollard sculptures in Geelong. This group aren't as clear to see as some of the others on previous days, but to take a shot of each individual bollard would be a bit too much. You can get the idea of each group though.

My favourite bollard sculpture of all of them is the second on the left on the bottom row of the Volunteer Rifle Band. I first saw this particular sculpture a few years ago and now that I have seen more of them it is still my favourite. Apparently it is a very popular spot for wedding photos too.

Just off out for dinner and trivia night tonight, so will catch up tomorrow
Sam

Superb Babs -- thank you for sharing --I have really had fun seeing all of them .I would never reverse into one of these as I did to a rather short bollard in the shopping complex' car park some years ago !! Something I have been very careful about ever since !!
My favourite of these is the band -- gorgeous wish they would play !!

The band really took my eye too but they are all fabulous!

I like the band too. I can see why it is popular for wedding photo's. The red of the uniform would look great next to a white wedding dress.

These are amazing. Like the top left. We have bollards in Winchester - shall have to pay them a return visit!

Wonderful series of shots on these wonderful bollards! Have enjoyed seeing them in all the different styles & costumes. A real fun series, I know of no other bollards like these. We have various statues ...cows etc in various towns now & again specially in London. It's good to be innovinitive in the art world.

@beryl Thanks Beryl. No you wouldn't want to reverse into one of these. Mind you they are easier to spot than the ones in shopping centres. Those little ones are deadly.
My favourite is the band too.

@hermann @mrsrcg @bugsy @bella_ss Thank you all. I just love the band. I first saw that one a few years ago and promised to go back and photograph some of the other bollards too. Still haven't captured them all though.

@karlow75 Thanks Kane. Yes I can see why it is popular with wedding photos. The whole area around there is a beautiful backdrop too.

@eyesmile Tjhanks Gena. Yes they are there all the time. I believe that Jan Mitchell, the creator of the bollards suggested the idea in 1994 and by 1999 there were over a hundred bollards scattered all along the waterfront. They are a fabulous tourist attraction. Sadly Jan died in 2008 of cancer.
