Today has been a beautiful sunny winter day. Temperatures around 20 degrees c (68f).
I can't believe that we have had two whole days at home. This last week has been so hectic that it was nice to have nothing official planned for a couple of days.
We haven't been idle though. Yesterday was log chopping day for our wood burner fire and we now have quite a supply of cut logs. Today I have been catching up on preparing a batch of meals to put in the freezer after losing all the contents during our recent power outage for 4 days.
I just love this boat which is always down at the beach next to the marina. It has such character.
If you look beyond the boat next to the breakwater you will spot the expensive boats in the marina, but this one is very much the poor relation.
It certainly has a lot more character than the expensive boats! I did a whole lot of cooking today too.........going in the freezer so I always have dinner ready :)
I cant believe it either that you had 2 days off...you are always doing something.
Great capture Babs...old boats is more interesting to photograph than the expensive boats
Wonderful composition, depth of field and beautiful colour Babs, its a great find well spotted, we may get up to 20 degrees this weekend, tell I'm a Pommie. always talking about the weather, Ha Ha:)
@gigiflower@onewing I must try this cooking to be prepared thing hahahahaha
it is full of character Babs - oh today I thought of you and David as I was in the city for heritage transport weekend looking at old buses and trains
I love how your image is full of contrasts between the boat in the foreground and its rich relations behind, as well as between sand and sky. A lovely sea-scene.
An imaginative title and a good composition. Your winter weather seems to be mimicking our summer weather - it's been beautifully sunny and around 20 degrees here too today.
Love all that peeling paint. Your winter is still warmer than our summer! Babs - what does the temperature have to drop to in order to put the wood burner on?
@gigiflower Thanks Sam. We are an industrious pair aren't we. It is always handy to have meals in the freezer for the days when we can't be bothered to cook. I had meals ready for when I came out of hospital recently, but unfortunately we had the 'great storm' and lost everything. The best laid plans ......
@yaorenliu The prepared meals were okay for two days and we invited friends round for literally "candlelight meals" while the power was off, so managed to save some of the meals. The rest had to go in the garbage though unfortunately
@leestevo@thistle Thanks. I sort of enjoyed my days at home, but it was spent cooking meals for the freezer and chopping logs. No peace for the wicked. ha ha.
@dolphin@quietpurplehaze Thanks ladies. It has been another beautiful day today too. The good thing about winter in Australia is that it isn't winter every day. We did have a top of 14 degrees a few days ago and I actually wore a coat. Doesn't happen very often though.
@annied I don't do the batch cooking too often, but had to catch up as I lost all of the food in the freezer after our storm. I was planning on being stocked up for when I came out of hospital, but unfortunately it wasn't to be, didn't have time to top up the freezer before my op.
David had a train fix today. We have been to Richmond Vale.
@paulaw Thanks Paula. We only usually light our wood burner fire in the evening and we don't keep it burning during the day. It does go chilly at night and gets down to about 9 degrees sometimes. Maybe even lower as winter progresses too. We don't get to minus figures though.
