For those of you who saw my bedraggled kookaburra, http://365project.org/onewing/365/2015-09-23
posted a couple of days ago, you will be pleased to know that the rain has finally stopped and he is looking a lot happier now.
Such an adorable shot! I'm pleased he is dry and the rain has stopped - but I did really love your wet capture of him too :) It's been a week of kookaburras on here - but they are so beautiful. Fav
@craftymeg She is very tame and visits each day. She sits on our garden chairs until I get up in a morning and she is always here first thing in a morning.
@happypat Yes it is the same bird. I think it is a female, if you read what I have written above. Their beaks are about 4 inches (10 cm) long. So can do serious damage to other birds, snakes, blue tongue lizards etc.
She visits each day and when she sees me she does a lovely happy dance and flaps her wings, jumps up and down and very often gets so excited that she flies into our family room sliding glass door in her excitement. She loves being fed with raw mince which is why she is a regular visitor. I can hand feed her but she does get over enthusiastic sometimes and nips my finger. Yes that beak is quite large and her nip does hurt a bit, but she hasn't drawn blood yet.
