Drive By Shooting by onewing

Drive By Shooting

I noticed this car on the median strip as we were driving to Newcastle yesterday on our way to the theatre, so on our way home again I had my camera ready as we drove by.

I only had chance to get one shot as we were travelling at about 70 kph on the dual carriageway at the time and no opportunity to stop.

I don't know what actually happened to this car or how it ended up on the median strip but it looks as though it had rolled a few times before it burst into flames. Hope the driver and any occupants got out okay.

Of course, there is always the possibility that it was a stolen car and joy-riders just set fire to it. Either way it isn't wasn't a good outcome.

Taffy @taffy commented on my Patterns photo yesterday and wondered what it would look like in b&w so I have posted it in my Topics album. What do you think?

@taffy I have posted the Patterns photo in my topics album, just for you, what do you think. https://365project.org/onewing/topics/2017-01-23

That is a terrible title.

@princessm Only shooting with the camera. :)
January 23rd, 2017
Not a nice sight to see. One feels for the occupants and their families.
January 23rd, 2017
Not nice at all but a reality
January 23rd, 2017
@onewing I know it was a pun. We are all feeling a bit raw here in Melbourne, given the use a car was put to on Friday.

I always wonder why they go to the effort of taping up burned out cars. Well caught at speed!
January 23rd, 2017
Nice shot on the move. A sad reality we see nowadays.
January 23rd, 2017
@pusspup They tape them so the public know that the police have already been called so that they then don't get heaps more calls :) Good quick capture Babs.
January 23rd, 2017
@pusspup @gilbertwood Yes Denise is right and normally they would tow the cars away if it was just in an accident, so I suspect that it may be a crime scene caused by joy riders setting fire to the car.
January 23rd, 2017
@gilbertwood that makes sense. That's why the pink crosses on the road kill I believe - pouches have been checked!
January 23rd, 2017
oh my! that an awful scenario. My youngest is about to take a drive down to Canberra from Brisbane and I am so worried for them...
January 23rd, 2017
Great shot, Babs, this kind of thing is happening so often now, as you say could be a stolen car (again)
January 23rd, 2017
It is a bit of an eyesore :)
January 23rd, 2017
Interesting capture for of drama and detail, I would suspect with the bonnet up and not a sign of crash damage it was an electrical fire, the driver having time to park on the median and walk away:)
January 23rd, 2017
It looks like it has had a bad day
January 23rd, 2017
@pcoulson You could be right Peter. Haven't seen anything in the local newspaper about it.
January 23rd, 2017
Interesting capture Babs.
January 23rd, 2017
Terrific drive by capture. Very well done :)
January 23rd, 2017
Wow... that car has had a bad day! Makes a nice capture though.
January 23rd, 2017
Interesting find and a great shot. I hope no one was hurt either.
January 23rd, 2017
Well done catching the moment - not easy when driving by at speed!

You do see life of sorts. I enjoy photographs with feeling.
January 23rd, 2017
Certainly makes you wonder what happened. Hope everyone was OK
January 23rd, 2017
Great shot of this abandoned wreck
January 23rd, 2017
I hope there was no death toll, it looks pretty beaten up.
January 23rd, 2017
A car fatality only, I hope.
January 23rd, 2017
Don't there's any way back for this car. Well done on getting a shot at that speed.
January 23rd, 2017
Hope the story isn`t as bad as the car is now. Isn`t nobody to take this wrack to a dismolition firm?

Sue
Unusual subject. Well spotted
January 23rd, 2017
Great shot and fun title!
January 23rd, 2017
Well captured!

@salza @dawnee @pusspup @jmdspeedy @marie65 @happysnaps @hermann @pcoulson @nicolecampbell @tonygig @paul10 @kwind @mittens @fishers @peterday @thistle @seattlite @craftymeg @s4sayer @flowerfairyann @pyrrhula @suesouthwood @loweygrace @radiogirl Thanks everyone. I suspect that this was driven by joy riders and is part of an on going crime scene or as Peter said it could have been an electrical fire. If it was involved in an accident it would have been towed away, so as it is still here, it is part of an ongoing investigation.
There was nothing in our local newspaper about it which is what makes me think joyriders.

Great capture
January 24th, 2017
Looks like the poor thing is done for good.
January 24th, 2017
Oh gosh -- this does not look like a story that had a happy ending, does it? Well captured at that speed especially. Off to look at your b&w!
January 24th, 2017
It makes you wonder at the story behind this. Do hope there were no fatalities.
January 24th, 2017
I think I'm with you Babs and it's been stolen. Some poor person is without a car for a while.
January 24th, 2017
Sad to see and sad to know that this kind of thing happens in your part of the world too... It's a common sight here - most usually seen on Mondays.. :( You got a great shot at that speed Babs!
January 25th, 2017
Oh dear!
