What a great shot. I'd be feeling a little uneasy with them being so close after a few misadventures with some swans and geese at our local pond - they can be quite aggressive when there's food being offered - but these pelicans appear quite patient 😊
@paul10 This bunch of pelicans are very tame, they are used to people walking close to them because they always congregate here at the boat ramp waiting for some off cuts. I think they are very well fed.
@happypat It was quite a warm day for winter. As long as the sun is shining we are okay, it is when the rain comes and the cloud is thick that we feel the cold.
Am bemused how they are together, yet have enough space to move independently when the booty is thrown to them. Particularly impressed by the one who is situated on the man's right. Whilst we can only see his lower body and feet, oh boy...isn't he just in pole position for the bounty?!
Oh, this is a superb street shot.. love the PoV which manages to show everyone's head, quite a feat for a photo of a crowd.. Great timing Babs - the fisherman has everyone's full attention.. love it..
@jorlam thanks Jorlam. I didn't get this on the first shot because just as I lined up the photo the chap threw a fish for the pelicans and it was a free-for-all until they regrouped again.
If you look at this photo you can see just how close I can get to take a photo. http://365project.org/onewing/365/2017-06-18
I had a chat to him as he was packing up and he had quite a catch.
