The Dome by onewing

The Dome

Another photo from the Queen Victoria Building. It wasn't easy to capture this shot because I had to look straight up. It would have been better if I was able to lie on the ground, but with lots of shoppers walking past me I didn't think that was be a good idea.
I feel your pain... I always see lovely angles to take pictures if only I could get down or under or up and then there is the issue of people watching or not being able to get up off the ground lol. Lovely capture!!

Fabulous shot FAV

Great shot.
July 2nd, 2017
Wonderful symmetry and patterns. I like the colours too.
July 2nd, 2017
Beautifully captured despite remaining upright Babs :)
July 2nd, 2017
sometimes it is worth putting the camera on the ground..and letting it take a 10 second delay shot of the ceiling/dome/sky etc. You can protect your camera...if you cant protect your body lying down! Great shot

Sam
Well done in getting this capture Babs - it sure is worth you nearly breaking your back looking directly up.......we all thank you!
July 2nd, 2017
Woah - wonderful dome and well done!
July 2nd, 2017
loving the colours and your heroic PoV.. because of the angle if one 'shifts' focus the dome can be seen either as it truly is or as a hanging globe.. Wonderfully captured Babs..
July 2nd, 2017
Wow what a beautiful dome... well captured even though you didn;t get down on the floor...
July 2nd, 2017
This is wonderful , Babs, very hard to get without neck pain & with so many people around..Great...
July 2nd, 2017
Wonderful dome image! I had the same problem in Chicago trying to get the Tiffany dome! I would never have got up again even if I could have got down on the floor! Lol! Fav!
July 2nd, 2017
It's such a beautiful roof. I have taken many photos of it and have always wanted to lie down but as yet haven't
July 2nd, 2017
beautiful dome and thanks for capturing it for us Babs.
July 2nd, 2017
Probably not a good idea but it works out very nicely anyway!
July 2nd, 2017
Love the colours, great pov despite not being flat out on the floor :)
July 2nd, 2017
Haha, I am laughing while imagining you lying down flat on the ground and looking straight up with the camera while people walk by and staring you thinking "This one is really nuts". But I love the result of your capture.
July 2nd, 2017
What a beautiful dome & gorgeous colours. In this day & age, I don't think anyone would have noticed if you'd laid on the ground to get your shot....they're all too busy looking at their phones!!! lol Remember that for next time :)

@hrs

I did make use of that technique once - after I saw somebody else doing it!
July 2nd, 2017
Beautiful shot, so well placed

So gorgeous -- love it -fav

Lovely angled shot.
July 2nd, 2017
Great capture even if you didn't lay down.
July 2nd, 2017
Lovely patterns & great colours! Think we all end up in odd positions sometimes as we try to capture the perfect image!
July 2nd, 2017
Wow a fantatic shot a fav

Super pov, symmetry, colors

Great pov. and capture of this beautiful dome.
July 2nd, 2017
It's an amazing looking dome, I love the colour surrounding it too.
July 2nd, 2017
A lovely dome

Awesome dome shot! It's a beauty!

Great work Babs, looks fabulous. I once laid on the ground to take a shot of the dome in the War Memorial in Canberra. But that was in my much younger, more agile days. I'd need the Army to get me up again now.

I love the Queen Vic building - we are so lucky that it has been saved and then so beautifully restored. An absolutely must visit for anyone coming to Sydney. A great capture Babs as it would be very tricky to photograph. fav

So impressive, fav

@tibles Ha ha, know what you mean, getting down would be easy but getting back up again is always difficult.

@777margo @yorkshirekiwi @littleconnie @hermann @busylady @mv_wolfie @pusspup @photobird @beryl @tonygig @claudiet @carole_sandford @snowy @seattlite @susiemc @carolmw @craftymeg @kwind @louannwarren @radiogirl @pyrrhula @stephanies @dawnee @olivetreeann @yurugabell Thanks everyone. The QVB us a fabulous building with lots of photo opportunities. I think I needed physio after taking photos of some of the places there. You have to be quite a contortionist at times.
July 3rd, 2017
@hrs I wouldn't put my camera on the ground at the QVB, it gets so crowded and somebody would be bound to kick the camera as they rushed by.
July 3rd, 2017
@gigiflower No wonder I felt dizzy after getting this photo and needing physio on my neck too. The things we do for 365.
July 3rd, 2017
@jorlam Thanks Jorlam. No wonder I have neck and back problems after taking photos like this.
July 3rd, 2017
@julzmaioro Thanks Julia. Not a good idea to get on the floor in the QVB I would have been trampled.
July 3rd, 2017
@happysnaps Thanks Valerie. I needed a cuppa after I took this photo.
July 3rd, 2017
@pamknowler Ha ha, know the feeling Pam.
July 3rd, 2017
@kjarn I agree Kathy it is a fabulous building. Not a place to lie down on the floor though is it. I would have been trampled.
July 3rd, 2017
@pusspup Definitely not a good idea to lie down, far too many people around.
July 3rd, 2017
@inthecloud5 I have got down on the floor in other buildings to get photos of ceilings, but not a good idea at the QVB, it is full of shoppers and I could have ended up even more injured than just a crick in my neck.
July 3rd, 2017
@sangwann Glad it made you smile Dione. I have laid down on the floor in other buildings to take photos, but the QVB is a bit too busy for a nut like me to get down on the floor for this shot.
July 3rd, 2017
@leggzy Ha ha, you are right, they wouldn't have noticed me if I had got down on the floor to take this photo, that is why I didn't. I could have been kicked in the head by unsuspecting shoppers.
July 3rd, 2017
@quietpurplehaze I have to admit I have got down on the floor to take photos in other buildings on occasion, but not in the QVB in the middle of Sydney. I could have ended up being trampled.
July 3rd, 2017
@golftragic I have laid down on occasion in buildings as well to get a photo, but not in the middle of Sydney in the really busy QVB, not without wearing a stack hat and other protective clothing anyway. I could have been trampled to death.
July 3rd, 2017
@onewing Perish the thought!!! No-one would've even looked up from their phones!!
July 3rd, 2017
Lovely capture Babs, wonderful colours, patterns and clarity, its a brilliant building crammed full of photographic opportunities both inside and out:)
July 3rd, 2017
Aawww Babs,, that would of been a sight to see, and I bet not the first person to lay of their back in this building. Haha. Great capture.
July 3rd, 2017
Wow, love all the shapes and colors.
July 3rd, 2017
Nicely done. Looks like an amazing building.
