Another photo from the Queen Victoria Building. It wasn't easy to capture this shot because I had to look straight up. It would have been better if I was able to lie on the ground, but with lots of shoppers walking past me I didn't think that was be a good idea.
I feel your pain... I always see lovely angles to take pictures if only I could get down or under or up and then there is the issue of people watching or not being able to get up off the ground lol. Lovely capture!!
sometimes it is worth putting the camera on the ground..and letting it take a 10 second delay shot of the ceiling/dome/sky etc. You can protect your camera...if you cant protect your body lying down! Great shot
loving the colours and your heroic PoV.. because of the angle if one 'shifts' focus the dome can be seen either as it truly is or as a hanging globe.. Wonderfully captured Babs..
Wonderful dome image! I had the same problem in Chicago trying to get the Tiffany dome! I would never have got up again even if I could have got down on the floor! Lol! Fav!
Haha, I am laughing while imagining you lying down flat on the ground and looking straight up with the camera while people walk by and staring you thinking "This one is really nuts". But I love the result of your capture.
What a beautiful dome & gorgeous colours. In this day & age, I don't think anyone would have noticed if you'd laid on the ground to get your shot....they're all too busy looking at their phones!!! lol Remember that for next time :)
Great work Babs, looks fabulous. I once laid on the ground to take a shot of the dome in the War Memorial in Canberra. But that was in my much younger, more agile days. I'd need the Army to get me up again now.
I love the Queen Vic building - we are so lucky that it has been saved and then so beautifully restored. An absolutely must visit for anyone coming to Sydney. A great capture Babs as it would be very tricky to photograph. fav
@inthecloud5 I have got down on the floor in other buildings to get photos of ceilings, but not a good idea at the QVB, it is full of shoppers and I could have ended up even more injured than just a crick in my neck.
@sangwann Glad it made you smile Dione. I have laid down on the floor in other buildings to take photos, but the QVB is a bit too busy for a nut like me to get down on the floor for this shot.
@leggzy Ha ha, you are right, they wouldn't have noticed me if I had got down on the floor to take this photo, that is why I didn't. I could have been kicked in the head by unsuspecting shoppers.
@quietpurplehaze I have to admit I have got down on the floor to take photos in other buildings on occasion, but not in the QVB in the middle of Sydney. I could have ended up being trampled.
@golftragic I have laid down on occasion in buildings as well to get a photo, but not in the middle of Sydney in the really busy QVB, not without wearing a stack hat and other protective clothing anyway. I could have been trampled to death.
Lovely capture Babs, wonderful colours, patterns and clarity, its a brilliant building crammed full of photographic opportunities both inside and out:)
I did make use of that technique once - after I saw somebody else doing it!
