I am filling in a photo taken a couple of weeks ago in Newcastle, because we had a very strange day yesterday.
I returned from grocery shopping to find David sitting in our family room looking very confused. He said he thought he was dreaming.
I asked him if he knew his name and he did and when his birthday was which he also knew. I asked him if he knew who our Prime Minister was and he couldn't remember Malcolm Turnbull's name. In fact he came up with lots of previous prime ministers names, including John Howard, Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard.
I asked him if he knew who the president of the USA was and he said Obama. (Who could forget that Trumpty Dumpty sitting on his wall is the President of the USA, but David did).
He didn't know what year it was, or that we were supposed to be doing a low light photography session last night at our house for our U3A. (That of course, was cancelled)
Anyway after a 000 phone call and the paramedics turning up, followed by an ambulance ride to hospital, David's memory returned later in the day. They did a CT scan and it was decided he hadn't had a stoke. They think it could be something to do with his recent DVT and being on blood thinners. A piece of the clot could still be wandering around his innards and got stuck somewhere to cause his memory to fail.
It was as though he had lost a couple of years in his memory, but it came back.
He was discharged from hospital late last night and I have had a rather restless night checking he was okay.
He seems to be okay again today and has to have follow up tests, including an MRI to see if they can find out what actually happened.
Just when we thought things were settling down again here we had yet another thing thrown at us. Keeps us on our toes doesn't it.
This photo reminded me of the old movie Rear Window with James Stewart. I couldn't see a murder being committed through any of the windows, but who knows.
I am now going to have another cup of tea and a lazy day.
Oh my gosh Babs, very worrying indeed. I hope David is ok. Life is a series of challenges. Take care. Thinking of both.
Perhaps your photo represents all the different days and stories in our lives.
I love your photo babs, but not so much the story - sounds like a nasty shock that you least need right now. So glad David's memory returned though. I think you may need more than a cup of tea to recover from this day.
How worrying for you & despite living in Oz, how very British to have a cup of tea in times of trouble! Lol. I hope your husband gets some answers from his MRI.
You have a great attitude and I can sympathise with you on that night - just checking... You know, I can't remember the name of our Prime Minister quite often!
Enjoy your lazy day as it sure sounds like it is just what you need. I hope your David continues to improve and has some answers soon.
Your photo is a great capture of apartment life. Not for me, I think.
OMG Babs, what an awful scary time you've both had. Take care of yourself, and please give my best wishes to David, he must be very worried himself. Thanks for filling us in. BTW, I like the shot though I haven't seen that movie.
Gosh Babs, what a scare. It seems you know all the right things to ask to check for a stroke. I do hope they come up with something definitive on what happened, so you know it can be fixed. Sending positive vibes your way xx. I like your photo btw. When I lived in highrise in HK, we never closed our curtains, thinking no-one could see in. I guess quite a lot could be seen if someone sat there with binoculars.
Wow- that would be totally unnerving to me and you seem to have taken it all in stride. I hope the follow up visits reveal what actually went on- so that you know how to avoid it from here on out. I've never seen the movie, but know of the scene and this certainly is reminiscent of it. Sending prayers your way that all is well from here on out. Nice filler!
I'm so sorry you went through such a terrible experience with your husband. I'm so glad his memory returned and I hope you get some answers about what actually happened from his MRI.
Your photo and title definitely brought the Alfred Hitchcock movie to mind...well spotted!
Hoping it works out well for your husband.. Challenging at the time, and hopefully never to be repeated. My husband had a stroke...worth avoiding. Look after yourselves!
What a scary day you both must have had , but glad David's memory came back and the medical investigations have proven fine so far ,but glad he is to have further med investigations ! You both need and deserve a quiet restful day today -- take care !! I do not know the film but I like the repetition and symmetry in this shot
@helenhall thanks Helen. I will just stick to tea at the moment seeing as I am the 'responsible adult' at the moment. David isn't allowed to drive until he has further tests.
@365projectorgjenfurj You could be right Jen, but our life is much more dramatic than this scene at the moment. I would love for it to be as quiet as this picture.
I thought if the film straight away Babs - great image! What a scare you and David must have had! I am so pleased his memory returned and also that he is having further investigations to see what happened! Hope he continues to recover fully! Big hug!
Nice symmetry and light Babs well spotted opportunity high rise living is fine for some but not for me, please to see David has no ill effects from yesterday, just keep your eye on him:)
I so lkie windows & there are lots here.....What a worrying time....so pleased he is better....hope for a good night't sleep for you both.....thinking of you both heaps!
Only just seen this Babs as we are in the uk looking after the girls. Please give Dave our love. That must have been a shock to your system too! This old age thing isn't all that it's cracked up to be is it! All that training with the St Johns payed off I see. Thank goodness he didn't need a splint though! Like your pic here, great film too.
My goodness you two are having a really tough time, healthwise.. i'm pleased, for you both, that the outcome of this episode is a positive one.. Hopefully there will not be a repeat..
i don't know the movie but do like this image.. the balconies are used for similar things but there are some differences too.. the use of the window blinds is not uniform either..
i would not like to live in a high rise and certainly not above ground level, anywhere..
Oh my gosh Babs, how very frightening for you and for David!! I am so relieved to read that his memory returned but I can imagine you were worried plenty.
Your picture is great, so many scenes to look at, but I am guessing everyone was out at work or not up yet.

Good luck goes to David and you. Hoping all continues to improve.
I am a CT scan technologist at a hospital in MN by the way :)

We have had a very lazy day today.
@888rachel I would hate to live in a high rise. I really like my own space.
@caitnessa You will have dealt with lots of patients like David then. He is feeling much better today. Just waiting for the MRI date now.
Great photo, I like all the lines and shapes
Great shot of the flat windows.
