Newcastle Ocean Baths

I have got a busy week ahead so for the next few days I will be posting more photos taken in Newcastle last Wednesday when we went on a trip around Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Today's photo of Newcastle Ocean Baths was taken from Fort Scratchley. As you can see the baths are closed today. Once a week they drain the pool and remove some of the sand that builds up in the pool. They also whitewash the walls to prevent any build up of algae.

I am sure i have visited here many years ago... what a great idea because aint no way i would swim in the ocean with jelly fish and sharks!

@louannwarren Behind that elaborate façade there are shower and change facilities and a kiosk that provides light refreshments. The ocean baths are free and open year round except for baths cleaning days.
