Over the next few days I will be posting photos taken during our day out in Maitland on Sunday.
It was a beautiful day and not at all like winter. The sun was shining and it was really warm.
We had a lovely day, first of all visiting Maitland Market which is where I took this photo of a sunshine windmill on one of the stalls.
From the market we had a wander around the area taking photos of some of the buildings. (see yesterday's photo). Then we had a fabulous lunch and later in the afternoon we went to the newly extended shopping complex because David wanted a folder to put his family history story in to send to his sister in the UK.
We came home the 'scenic route' because we left the shopping centre by an exit we hadn't used before and ended up travelling the wrong way up the New England Highway before we were able to turn round and come home the right way.
sounds a lovely day even if it did have a frustrating ending :) We had a few detours on the motorways in the UK because we ended up missing the right exit.
The exit we came out of the shopping complex from only had a left turn and we needed to turn right, so when we reached the New England Highway we were in the wrong lane and had to turn left there too, it took a while before we were able to do a u turn and come back the right way. We did get to see parts of the area we hadn't seen before though and that was interesting.
@happypat Luckily even in winter we don't get too many what we call really cold days. The lowest it gets here at night is about 9 degrees but if the sun is shining in the daytime it can get up to about 21 degrees which isn't bad for winter. Some days though it only reaches about 14 degrees if it is raining and that is really cold for us. When you think that our summer temperatures are in the high 30s, 14 degrees is pretty chilly to us.
