Apparently you can't go to Coffs Harbour without visiting a model railway exhibition, well that is David's theory at least. It is one of the reasons we went there.
His friend Rob, who David and some other mates build a model railway with here in Port Stephens was up there because Rob actually sells model trains and had a stall at the exhibition. Of course, David had to call in there while we were in Coffs to show some support didn't he. ha ha.
Rob is home again too now and I am sure they will have plenty to talk about tomorrow when they are all at Rob's house building their railway again in his double garage.
My brother-in-law (who's passed) loved model trains too. He had several tracks running around his attic which he also modeled after the cock pit of the Star Wars space ship. It was an odd mixture, but it worked! Nice shot! I don't know if there's a Norfolk and Western line in Australia but it was a very well-known line here in the States for a long time. I'm not sure if it's still around or not.
Model trains are such an amazing hobby....I know they can be incredibly realistic with all the accessories to make it realistic. I know the singer Rod Stewart is a great model railway enthusiastic.
@casablanca I thought of you when I took this photo.
@peterday My attention span for model railways is about half an hour. Once I have taken the photos I need a cup of tea.
@busylady Yes, David has been to the one in Hamburg. He used to go to Germany regularly during his RAF days and Hamburg was always on the list.
@pcoulson ha ha, they always have plenty to talk about when it comes to trains.
@jacqbb How interesting, you will have to post a photo of your husbands trains.
@olivetreeann How lovely, I do hope that somebody in the family has still got his train lay out
@mave Would love to see a photo of your husbands model train layout.
@happypat I think it is a never ending hobby. I didn't know Rod Stewart was a model railway enthusiast. I bet his layout is quite expensive. Mind you having said that I think Rob's layout is worth around $100,000 so far. It is huge and spans all of their double garage.
@happysnaps I bet they had lots of fun. Hasn't he got his railway any more?
@gigiflower So does David ha ha
