Matchstick Bromeliad by onewing

Matchstick Bromeliad

Thanks so much for putting yesterday's photo of Pink Hour on the tp and the pp. It was one of those lucky photos where I just happened to be passing at the right time.

I was just about to post this photo on here because I had no idea what it was called and I wanted someone to identify it for me, but then I spotted Jen's photo @365projectorgjenfurj with the same flower. Hers is better than mine though because she has a ladybug on her photo.

Thanks Jen for identifying it as a Matchstick Bromeliad.

They are strange looking flowers aren't they.

I took this photo at the art centre garden a couple of weeks ago and have only just got round to posting it.
@365projectorgjenfurj Thanks Jen for posting your photo today, I had no idea what this flower was called and you have identified it for me.

Hahaha, that's funny Babs. I didn't know it as a matchstick one. They are very hardy in pots and in the garden.

you can see why it is called matchstick, although psychodellic match stick might work as a description. Interesting flower find.

Great shot of this beautiful flower. Bromelia`s are very populair in our country. A pitty the plant dies after flowering and you`ve to grow the young ones again.

They look like jacks (the child's game) stuck closely together to me. Interesting plant for sure.
