Thanks so much for identifying yesterday's mystery plant. I love this site, everyone is so helpful.
As you are all so good at identifying plants maybe you can tell me what this is. I saw this flower at the Art Centre garden a few weeks ago and have only just got round to posting it.
Today has been our coldest day this winter, I think the temperature reached 13 degrees c, which for our area is freezing and David and I went off up to Zenith Beach and Birubi to try and capture photos of the back spray on the ocean.
At Birubi we nearly got blown away in the wind. I was so rugged up I must have looked like Nanook of the North. I will post the photos later this week.
Looks likes a Bromiliad... there are so many different ones and a great variety of colour and size .. It is great that we can all share our knowledge ..
We got alot of wind today as well .. hope it goes very soon .. but atlease we didn't get the 'Storm of Storms' that was forcast..
@julzmaioro Thanks Julia, I think you are right, I googled it and as you say there are many different varieties.
It is so pretty, I just love the colours. I am leaning towards a Portea Alatisepala, what do you think?
Since we are on the opposite ends of the spectrum for all wildlife, I can't really help with the ID but that seems to be taken care of now. Nice shot- and I hope we see a selfie of Nanook.
@kjarn I can't believe how cold it was either. We went to the beach to take photos and I was so rugged up.. Jumper, fleecy top, thick coat, trousers, boots, beanie on my head and fingerless gloves. The wind was so strong and sand from the dunes was swirling round like snow.
@sangwann Thanks Dione, I love your description of spoons carrying coloured peas
@louannwarren@olivetreeann Unfortunately, not likely to see a photo of me looking like Nanook. David was taking videos on his camera of the waves and the sand drifting across the dunes and he did get me in one of his videos but not clear enough to get a still from. I was wearing a thick jumper, fleecy top, thick coat, trousers, boots, beanie on my head and fingerless gloves. The wind was so strong and biting on the beach.
@craftymeg I remember cool temperatures in the UK in the middle of summer. Can't cope with cold these days. 13 degrees was too cold for me and we are in winter. Luckily we don't get too many days this cold even in winter here.

Thanks for your help.
