Does Anyone Know How To Play This Game

We have been at our U3A Christmas lunch today and on our way home had to stop at Nelson Bay.

I saw this giant chess set at the marina and there seems to be some confusion as to how this game is played. Ha ha

I think they are probably just having a royal outing or garden party

These giant chess sets are found in the most odd places! I think the people who put up the money to assemble these are chess fans!

Ha ha! You can often find such chess in the parks of holiday resorts. Mostly grandparents play, and then mothers and children come and play in their own way. Grandparents are very irritated by these games.

I know the white and black pieces go on opposite sides of the game board but that's about it! I have no idea on how they are lined up after that. But I do think these large size games are kind of cool. Good catch!
