Foreshore Looking West by onewing

Foreshore Looking West

Following on from yesterday's photo along the foreshore here is the same beach looking in the opposite direction.

As you can see the high tide gets pretty close to the houses along the waterfront. I often wonder if they get flooded when there is a king tide.

I wouldn't want to pay such a huge amount of money for a waterfront property to get my feet wet as I sit in my kitchen. ha ha.

Such a fabulous shot and view. I agree with you re living there, although it must be amazing to hear the ocean at night. That beach does look very narrow in front of the houses.

At first glance I thought that the foam was snow. I wonder if they do suffer with water damage on a regular basis.

You show the waterline really well in your photo. One of the boats is about to climb up the stairs. Their flood insurance must be going through the roof.

Now that's beach front property, lovely shot

How can we stop sea lever rise?
January 16th, 2021
Beautiful blues and greens!

Oh dear - the houses might be given a few years to survive ... but in the meantime, How wonderful to hear the tide splashing in!
January 16th, 2021
Beautiful. What a lovely place to live - other than the worry about the sea crashing into your lounge!
January 16th, 2021
lovely

Looks like a beautiful day...and what a view from these homes!

I must admit I would be keeping my eye on that water but I suppose after time you get blasé & confident that it never comes too far. I like that you never have to walk far out to the waters edge unlike here which has a greater variation of tides.

Oh what a beautiful shot. We’ve just cancelled our beach holiday this year, and live right in the middle of the country, so I’m proper jealous of your access to the sea. 😊
January 16th, 2021
They certainly don’t have much of a front yard do they
January 16th, 2021
Very nice view they have
January 16th, 2021
Lovely. I guess that the home owners are happy to take the risk.

@kjarn The ocean side is the back of their houses and the road is on the front of their houses so they don't have much of a garden on either side. When we first moved here from Melbourne 24 years ago most of the houses along this stretch of the beach were just fishing shacks or holiday beach huts. Times change.

@ludwigsdiana @salza @katford @yaorenliu @maggiemae @jamibann @happypat @tinley23 As I said to Kathy the houses along this stretch of beach were just beach shacks and fishing huts when we first moved here. I think these days though, if you can afford a property on the beach you don't worry too much about the occasional flooding.

I wouldn't like a house this close to the water because not only do you have the risk of king tides you also have people walking along the beach past your house all the time so there is no privacy. This is the back of their houses and on the other side is the road so close to the houses so they have traffic noise too. I much prefer my cul-de-sac house hidden in among the trees as you can see in yesterday's photo, not overlooked by anyone, on higher ground and yet still only 300 metres from the beach.

Very nice shot

Lovely image full of light and colour Babs what a beautiful area to live in:)

Those buildings do seem to be too close to the waterfront for their comfort. That would not be a problem here because in the Mediterranean we have no tide and the fluctuation of the sea level is only a few inches.
January 16th, 2021
Such a beautiful capture, but, too close for comfort for me to live here..
January 16th, 2021
Lovely view ,but not so good for those living on the shore line
January 16th, 2021
Lovely shot but I was wondering the same thing about the ( future)sea-level
January 16th, 2021
Yes, look out global warming!
January 16th, 2021
Ha ha, me either! I would love to live along a shoreline but I think a Queenslander house would suit it better to lift you off the ground, or living on a slope! Lovely shot
January 16th, 2021
A waterfront property would be lovely, but that looks a bit too close to the water for my liking.
January 16th, 2021
Oh wow I thought it was snow on the shoreline at first glance! lol
Very pretty scene!
January 16th, 2021
Terrific composition
January 16th, 2021
The water is close... but it is definitely pretty.

Oh yes, they do look worryingly close to the sea.
What a fabulous location to live in though. Lovely shot.
January 16th, 2021
A lovely shoreline shot - but I wouldn't want to live that close to the sea!

It must be lovely to be on the waterfront like that, but perhaps a little too close for comfort. At least the property is not going to fall off a cliff due to erosion like many on the coastline here in UK.
January 16th, 2021
The water looks so gentle
January 16th, 2021
So nice to see the sun on this beautiful seashore. It's been another dull day here today with only a glimmer of sunshine
January 16th, 2021
Lovely coastal scenery
January 16th, 2021
Great view- but I agree, I wouldn't want the flooding! Nice picture.
January 16th, 2021
Lee
Lovely looking place to live, but I too would be conserned about the water. Nice shot.
January 16th, 2021
Great capture of this nice sea front.
A lot of people love to live there. We have stop building more houses on the sea front.
January 16th, 2021
What a beautiful scene.
January 17th, 2021
Lovely scene Babs. Looks a lot warmer than our weather. Dunno where summer is.
January 17th, 2021
It’s a good bet the tide gets up to the homes. It does look like the living sections are elevated.
January 17th, 2021
Beautiful white sand-thought it was snow-Wrong country!!
January 17th, 2021
Lovely beach - a bit close to the houses though!
January 17th, 2021
Lovely beach, and as you said it would worry me a bit with high tide.
