It has bucketed down with rain all day today so haven't taken any photos today.
I did meet up with some friends for a cuppa though between showers.
Here is another photo taken on the beach at Fingal a few days ago.
You can't really see from this photo the size of the crab but it was about 25 cm (10 inches) It was quite close to the shark egg casing (posted yesterday) so I guess it got washed ashore in the recent storms.
@anniesue Crabs are decapods meaning 10 legs. Eight legs are used for walking and the front two are the gripping claws. I guess this one won't be doing any walking or gripping in the future.
@sangwann@busylady We do get some huge crabs on our beaches, luckily they stay out of the way of people generally. This one would have got washed ashore in our recent storms and paid the price.
@kjarn Like you I am so sick of rain. Bring back the drought. Luckily our garden is almost pure sand so the rain sinks in. We haven't got a lake in the garden at the moment, but I am suffering, I am beginning to get webbed feet, ha ha.
@leestevo Yikes, I bet it is hot and humid up there.
@ingrid01 @julzmaioro @beryl @wakelys @ladymagpie @gijsje @carolmw @ryan161 @carole_sandford @pcoulson @bkbinthecity Thanks. Everything gets recycled here I suppose the sea birds will have had a feast on the crab, so at least it gave a meal to someone in the end.
