I googled the word: 'Color-blocking is thought of as the exploration of taking colors that are opposites on the color wheel and pairing them together to make interesting and complementary color combinations'.

@joysabin the word is mainly used in fashion and design I read, but I guess can be used in any type of creative exploration.
