Male Kingfisher by padlock

Male Kingfisher

One of those days when you think can I be bothered but I am glad I did. This was taken at a new site to me and involves quiet a walk with the 500mm lens. However met the owner of the cottage whose land the Kingfisher seems to fly onto. Got him onboard by offering him a picture, hopefully I may get more access to riverbank. Also took a shot I had taken to the pub whose car park I have been using, owner wasn't there but the manager promised to give him the shot.
Then I got this shot, probably the best over the year I have been chasing the Kingfisher. This is with the 500mm plus 1.4 converter straight out of the camera. No cropping or messing.
He is absolutely gorgeous, just love the bokeh background, really pops the kingfisher with no distraction. After so many hours walking you deserve perfect locations like this

@jo13 I see you have the 7D MII, do you find it better than the 5D MIII?

Best place to try for KF is Rye Meads. They have a dedicated KF breeding wall. It is an RSPB site.

@padlock thanks for that, I image you need big lenses to stand a chance of getting a decent shot, I've been most impressed with your images.
