We parked the car at the country park ready for a walk around the shady woods. It is very hot today - 30 degrees registered in my car!! Anyway I suddenly spotted these toadstools growing beside the path. I thought fungi grew in wet conditions not in a heatwave!! They were each the size of a tea plate.

Many thanks for your lovely comments and favs on my project and especially for your good wishes for George. I have bought some cider vinegar so will be giving it a try although today George has been much better. After each walk I am standing him in a bowl with Alloe and Oatmeal soothing dog shampoo. Then letting him walk in the clean cold water in the paddling pool. Once his feet have dried off he has not been licking and chewing. Partial success at last and I am so pleased as the wipes i got from the vet at £20 for the pack only seemed to make him lick his feet even more!!
What interesting looking fungi - really large and nicely textured. Glad you've (hopefully) found a way for George not to be so miserable after his walks. What you're doing makes sense to me.
I helped on a school trip once looking for fungi in a local woodland. I can still remember the horror on the teachers' faces when they heard me announce to my group "you can eat ALL fungi.........but some of them only once." The kids were too scared to eat any of them after that, but it still makes me laugh remembering those looks! Nice shot.
