The starlings were practising social distancing this morning while waiting for their turn on the bird table.
It has been very traumatic the last couple of days as Finlay the Hunter has been in action. Total so far 3 baby blackbirds. I have managed to make him drop the babies but they have died of shock later. So upsetting because any birds fledging into our garden really don't stand a chance with Finlay on the lookout. It's his nature I know but still very upsetting to see. The screeching of the parent blackbirds has been horrible to hear.
The starlings usually love the bark butter bits to feed their young but haven't seen them yet. They are noisy and pretty. Fortunately, Two is an indoor cat. Doesn't stop her as she crashes into the window regularly.
I know exactly what you mean....Connie almost caught a pheasant on Sunday, it flew off just in time but then she was barking, no shrieking at something in the shrubs...I do hope it wasn’t babies! The downside of dog owning!
Oh dear, I can just hear the heartbreaking screeching of the parent blackbirds 😢
This is a stunning photo, absolutely love it!
