Alum Bay Sand by pamknowler

Alum Bay Sand

This morning Casablanca uploaded an image of the Alum Bay Cliffs on the IOW. The coloured sand from the cliffs is famous and you used to be able to collect it yourself and make it into ornaments. You are now not allowed but you can still make the ornaments using the sand the professionals have carefully collected.

Here are two lighthouses from my sister Barbara's collection made many years ago. You can see the different shades of the sand in layers all the way up each lighthouse.
@casablanca - here are my sister's glass lighthouses filled with the sand from Alum Bay. She did have another couple which she picked up at car boot sales but they were both broken in her move to my house. Sand everywhere!! LOL!!
