The feeders were very busy this morning as I had put some fresh mealworms out. This starling stood watch while ten others squabbled and fought over the food.
Excellent close up Pam, nicely composed and fabulous shallow DOF. I love the colours in the bird. There is a little bit of haloing around the bird's tail feathers and the stand, this could be that you pushed the contrast or clarity.
@elaine55 Hi Elaine I have just gone back to the original RAW photo and the haloing is already there. The sun was shining and blowing out the sky and the bird is back lit by the sunlight. Thanks for your lovely comment!!
I put some food out yesterday because I saw a flock of starlings in the trees but the food is still there and there were meal worms there as well. I can't understand it but I expect they will be back when the weather gets colder. Lovely shot and an instant fav
@rosiekind The birds seem to arrive in groups. First came the blackbirds and then the starlings. At the same time the robin was chasing away a chaffinch. Finlay then rushed out and they all flew off. Later the blue tits and great tits came as well as some goldfinches. I think they feel safety in numbers. The tits only feed on the sunflower seeds I have in the feeders and all the others go for the mealworms which I spread along my wall. I normally have to put out more mealworms every morning. Especially if i want a photo!!
@pamknowler That explains it then Pam, I just know if I push the clarity or contrast slider it happens sometimes with me. Lol I was trying to be constructive.
