I saw the film "Shipping Forecast" recently and in it they talked of having Seal Flipper Burgers. I thought it was a joke!! When looking through a cookbook today of local Newfoundland dishes there was this recipe for Blueberry Braised Seal Flipper. I think the photo is meant to tempt you!! I have to say I will not be either cooking this or indeed ordering it in a restaurant any time soon!! I have given you the recipe just in case there is anyone out there who would like to try it. Please let me know how you get on!! LOL!!
**IF** I was a dinner guest in a Newfoundlander;s home, I would have a taste... However, this is not a meal I would seek out! Always interesting what people grow used to where they live, and I've always felt that IF a portion of the population will eat it, I'm willing to sample it,too! (Perhaps not so enthusiastically!
I thought it was a dish designed to look like a seal's flipper! And, I think it is made from seal? Oh my. Hmmm, I think you have actually helped me find something I don't think I'd eat! I'm pretty adventurous but...
I think you mean the film, 'The Shipping News" There is a film called Shipping Forecast but its British and about dementia. I would love to be there seeing what you are! Might forgo the flipper recipe!
Oh my. I thought you were doing what Louise does when she makes one of those incredible cakes from that magazine, putting the recipe and finished product in a photo. I was looking forward to what you thought about the flipper, and thinking how adventurous you are. Lol!
