20th January 2015 - My frozen heart

The hydrangea bushes were all covered with frost and I spotted this dead flower which looked like a heart to me.

I tried lots of different setting to try to get the frost as detailed as possible. This is at F22 on a tripod and suing the timer to stop any shake. Still not as focused as I would like. Outdoor shots are very difficult as it picks up even the slightest breeze. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. My indoor macro shots are always much better I think as far as focus is concerned.

sorry no help. Only had my macro lens a few months and getting used to it very slowly. It does have lovely frosty detail though.

I notice that your shutter speed was quite low. It might be worth increasing your ISO so the shutter speed can be faster. That said, I find the focus on this shot is fine, and the picture is really nice.

@newbank @888rachel @golftragic This is my second favorite in terms of the three frost shots -- still like the one of the fern that almost looks like a fossil. I think Rachel hit the area to work on in her comment about shutter speed.
