2016 02 05 - Across the Road

Another view of the Hannningworth Viaduct using the Fisheye lens. The viaduct goes right across the valley and is a very impressive sight.

The original image has been edited as per Taffy's suggestions and then replaced with this latest version. So pleased to see it made the PP!! Really pleased you liked it!! I am loving my fisheye lens!!

Uploaded for my extras album
Love your fisheye capture.

I have only use my fisheye once :(
I need to start taking it with me! This is great and it gives me an idea of where to go take a few pics!

I really like these shots with the fisheye - Fav

This is really majestic looking and the fisheye is such a fun effect for it. I also like this one a lot (looked at the far view first). Same thing...I'd try cropping up from the bottom so it's more a pano, with the left edge of the road beneath the fence being the point where I'd crop to. Very cool shot!

@taffy Cropped as suggested Taffy - do you think it improves it? I do!! Thanks for the suggestion.
February 5th, 2016
@pamknowler Definitely!! A good image even stronger! And the bridge is more dominant. What about cropping down from the top just a bit too? Or does it take away too much of the context. What I am trying to get at is how great the bridge is as it disappears off to the right. Just emphasizing that more could be cool -- not sure, but it might be.

@pamknowler And if it looks off proportionately, you could come in from the left where the branches stick above the bridge as in a way, they diminish the size of the bridge. OR, just clone out the part that goes above the bridge.

@taffy Cropped the sky so that the top of the viaduct is on the thirds and cropped out the branches on left. Did it in Picmonaey so couldn't clone.

Impressive viaduct. I love the effect the fisheye gives the shot.
February 5th, 2016
@pamknowler I think it works -- what do you think?
February 5th, 2016
Fabulous capture
February 5th, 2016
@taffy I like the sky cropped but I think I would prefer it if I cloned those branches instead of cropping. If I edit in PS and upload again will I loose all the comments?
February 5th, 2016
@pamknowler Don't lose the comments! While you'll have them still (in your email), we'll be without the dialog that I find interesting! Gorgeous photo, and I have more to add, but the neighbours just dropped by!

Like the effect the fisheye gives to the viaduct, the road works great as leading line

Great in fisheye!!!

Awesome shot

...so I was going to say that I love this about England..."the old" is revered. Here in the LA area, the current news story is that the beautiful "old" 1930's) viaduct that runs through a section of the city is being blasted so that more freeway can be built...what a travesty!

Wonderful pic!!
February 5th, 2016
@Weezilou Sounds so sad doesn't it!! Once it's gone it's gone forever!! So shortsighted of planners. They should be treasuring the beautiful old buildings etc as that is what will bring in the tourists to see. All the freeway means is more traffic and like some of our motorways they become like a giant carpark!!

@pamknowler Here's how you re-do it in PS or LR and then upload safely. First, make the changes you want and save your photos. Then, open the photo in 365 using Edit with picmonkey. Go to 'open' and open the revised photo. Then, click save and it will overwrite your original image, but save all the comments. Just as if you'd edited in picmonkey. Good luck! It will work!

Ooh! Fab arches and a B&W too. Must be a fave.
February 5th, 2016
Great b/w shot...neat arched lines, composition

Love the curvature created by the fisheye :)

@taffy Thanks Taffy I have done it. Finally found the cloning in PS - getting there slowly but surely. I did the editing on laptop using the pad and I much prefer editing using the mouse so will do that in future. I think the edits have improved the image - so many thanks for your help!!

@pamknowler I agree -- this is an improvement over an already interesting image. BTW, there's an exhibition here of costumes from Downton Abby at the Driehaus Museum (former Gold Coast mansion) - http://www.driehausmuseum.org/ . Is this anything you'd be interested in seeing? Its last week is when you are in Chicago.

Very impressive indeed :)

The fisheye creates a wonderful effect for this strong bridge. I have enjoyed reading the editing comments, too.
