Just back from having afternoon tea at Rushton Hall. What a treat this was - a Christmas gift from my sister's son Colin and his wife Louise. Lovely finger sandwiches to start. Followed by warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam - delicious!! We just could not manage all the little cakes which looked so pretty and they gave us a box to bring them home. A lovely afternoon tea in very elegant surroundings!!
Afternoon Tea is my very favorite thing to do!! There are a few good places in Chicago for this -- a thought for when you visit. Photo op without stressing knees and feet!
That has to be about the best idea for a Christmas gift that I could imagine! Your photo so draws me in, I can picture myself sitting there! I'm totally with Taffy @taffy that it's a favourite thing to do! See, once again, what a Great gift!!! (Is Palmer House on the list of places for tea? ... Once upon a time my grandmother would take me into Chicago on the train -from Rockford- and we'd have lunch in the Walnut Room when the store was more charmingly named Marshal Fields!)
Strikes me, looking at the array, that "Never will one pay more for so little to eat, but will love every elegant nibble and think it well worth the price!"
@Weezilou There was no price on the Voucher - it just said Afternoon Tea for two. When we were handed the menu to choose what tea we wanted (about 20 different kinds) or coffee (which we had) we could see that it was £25 per person!! What a rip off!! It was lovely but very expensive!! A lovely present which we enjoyed!!
I've had a High Tea or Two in my time and know what I'm talking about...haha...on Ken's dime, of course! But it's never about the price...it's all about the ambiance...and the nibbles, of course! It's totally self-indulgent!
That is the best way to spend a wonderful afternoon!!! I had high tea at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, Canada at it was heaven...an experience I won't forget.
