I have been thrilled this year to have a family of sparrows in my garden for the first time in years. I love to hear their happy chirping. I spotted this sparrow with a mouthful of Finlay's fur. I brushed him yesterday and put the fur that came out on top of the bush in the hope it would be taken to make a nest more cosy. I wonder if the sparrows are having a second lot of chicks and are getting the nest ready?
Fun shot. Finley's fur getting a second life. I use the lint from our clothes dryer for the birds........ Put it out on one of the feeders instead of food. They seem to go for it.
Very interesting to read the thread. Sparrows aren't terribly well thought of here, and positively loathed in the bush. They get into the grain storages and make a heck of a mess. Western Australia is sparrow-free thanks to the Nullarbor Plain, and woe betide any odd one that gets there. Came here accidentally, of course, like so many of our pesky/noxious animals, birds and plants.
