Willow Oak by pamknowler

Willow Oak

Does anyone know what this tree is? A very tall tree covered with what looked like acorns which first attracted me. I then noticed it was definitely not an oak tree - wrong leaves. I have checked my book of English trees and am unable to find it.
The tree was covered in the "acorns" from top to bottom.

Babs has identified this tree as Willow Oak which I have never heard of.
Could it be a willow oak?

@onewing Well done Babs I think you are right. I checked out a video about Willow Oaks and it definitely looks like this tree. I have never heard of it before. Always learning something new on 365!!

There are dozens of oak tree varieties in North America. The varieties are divided into two main categories: red oaks and White Oaks. This a Willow Oak from the Red Oak family.
