Cotinus by pamknowler

Cotinus

I looked out into the garden and saw that the Cotinus shrub was turning red and looking wonderful. We had this shrub cut hard back when we came back home after the earlier lockdown and our stay in Devon when the garden was completely overgrown.

I was so pleased to see that it has recovered so well and is looking great. I thought I had better get this shot before the strong wind takes all the leaves off the shrub. My lawn is already covered in red leaves!! It's a wild and windy day our there today!!
Such a beautiful colour - shame it will shed its leaves very soon in these strong blustery winds !

What a beautiful plant. Hard pruning is good for plants I think. It looks healthy as can be!

Interesting as the winds are howling here as well! It's making windows rattle! Love the reds. Do you think with the lockdown you could rent something in Devon to make the trip worthwhile, and then isolate there for a bit? We're trying to figure out if there's going to be a way to travel somewhere warmer safely this winter and do that.

It’s amazing how shrubs & stuff do so well after being pruned within an inch of their lives...bad day here today....it will buck up on Wednesday just in time for our lockdown walks!!

@taffy we are already booked to go to the lovely cottage in Devon for Christmas and New Year. Once lockdown starts though holidays in UK not allowed and driving long distances not allowed. We could drive down this week before Thursday but my cars MOT runs out in November and I need to get that sorted. Hoping garages will remain open. Just hoping and praying they bring us out of lockdown by 2nd December but they have said if the R number does not come down they may keep us in lockdown. I can see Christmas and New year in Devon slipping away! It is what it is!
