Saturday Decoration theme on DecHoliday2012 had me pulling out two sparkly, old fashioned, well used decorations. One a gidt from my Mom and one from my Grandma. Neithe expensive or fancy or new. Holidays and all their emoyional baggage and all their wonder and delight, require a ceryain element of strange and re-used and worn - to hit you with the full impact of the ones who you love who used to be with you and the ones you love who are with you now, and however mush that you desire it, will not always be around
what?!?!?! i have a similar Christmas tree. well, actually it belonged to partner's mother, she actually made it. but i saved it so it's mine now. :-) ain't tacky at all! no! no! no! no! best tree in the world! must find it among the boxes though. nice!
I've always liked those ceramic trees with the little lights in them. I don't think they're tacky. And I agree with Brian- it doesn't matter what it is, if it's meaningful to you, it's special.
I've always loved those ceramic trees. When my in-laws passed away several years ago, I got my Mother-in-law's. It's white with colored birds instead of lightbulbs. And when I put it out today, it brought back all kinds of memories.
