I found this squashed penny in my washing machine yesterday. It says it’s from the Grand Canyon. I’ve never been there but 11 years ago on May 15, 2007 my husband’s big sister died of heat exhaustion while coming up out of the canyon after camping there on a backpacking trip she had done several times in the past.
I wonder how it was flattened like that? Or how long it was in a pocket, unnoticed, until discovered by you (with the help of the washer)? Isn't it just like that to have an unbid thought of a passed loved one while in the midst of everday tasks--such a sweet memory, prayers at her passing and for your husband.,.
@sandrajo most tourist attractions have a machine that you put a couple quarters and a penny in, and pick one of four designs about thir attraction, and then the penny is squashed and embossed. But even though our kids used to get them at places like the redwoods or Golden Gate Bridge, none of them were from anywhere around the Grand Canyon
...wow Dixie... I know of the railroad...strange to have come across that in such an odd place at this time! My husband and daughter hiked the Grand Canyon a number of years ago...no way I would have tried! Such a sad ending to what might otherwise have been an exciting adventure!
