@parisouailleurs Thanks! We been there twice...so we have the good situation where we won't feel like we have to rush around seeing all the " main tourist" sights. We have rented a flat just off Rivoli on Rue Cloche Perce. Just near where we have stayed the last two times. I think I will want to do the Catacombs tours(but hubby is tall and does not...he will stay topside on that one I guess) , and since I love shooting pics in cemeteries, I guess we need to go by Pere La Chaise. I have never seen Versaille/La Petite Trianon but now that I have read several books about Marie Antoinette, I would like to....especially "her" house in the back. I am sure we will go back to the Louvre, and this time we will go to Musee D'Orsay to see the Impressionist stuff. Do you have any "must see" things or "Must try" places to eat that you tell people coming to Paris? We like Les Philosophes, Josselins for omelets, Brasserie Lipp.... Oh, we liked Au Pied du Cochon pretty well too. Anyway....any tips or suggestions we'd appreciate! Thanks
@parisouailleurs Thanks so much! we studied up before all the trips, and both took French in high school and college, so can get around "pretty" well. People usually hear our French and switch to English, but I think they at least appreciate the attempt we make to speak French and not just assume they speak English. LOL. We went to Galleries Lafayette the first time, when we were a bigger group.....had our son and my mother in law. It seemed super hectic with four people, one elderly and one 15 years old. So we will make sure to go back and enjoy. Will try out Saint Regis too! We have not spent much time on either Ile St. Louis or Ile de la Cite so I want to do more of that this time...just to see what's going on there. And I try to be so careful about thieves. I carry a black messenger bag and over the shoulder so I can set my arm down over it...and on the metro I pull it in front of me and put both arms over it. Stuff like that. I got mauled at the base of the hill at Sacre Couer by rip off artists who try to get a friendship bracelet attached to your arm. Then, they demand you pay for it and you cannot get it off. But as soon as he started up to me (I had my camera up, looking like a tourist) I say "No thank you." He said "what do you mean 'no thank you' ...you don't say that to someone when they just want to say hello. You don't even know what I want." He was getting aggressive and then my husband walked up....all 6 foot 4, 240 pounds of him. That rip off artists ran off. But it is scary. T hanks for the tips!
Oh thank you Helene! Isn't it a delight that so many of us are enjoying the softness of the bokeh images rather than going for the sharp lines this time of year?! This is everything I'd hope to see!
