A couple of weeks ago I visited this church on a dreary day and posted a picture of a man repairing the steps to the bell tower.
The weather was lovely today so I revisited and got some better pictures of the church in the sunshine.
The paths all around the church are lined with gravestones which I've not seen before. It's interesting to read the names and dates as you walk along the paths but I did wonder where the bodies under these moved gravestones are now.
A great shot of this beautiful church and surounding. Fav.
(In Holland an artist made a path by the stones from graves that was removed. You`ve to pay for a grave and after time there no one interrested.)
Super shot, really effective. Moving graves is not uncommon at all, but it is a fascinating subject. Around 50,000 graves have been moved for the HS2 rail project. Intriguing really - at what point do remains become archaelogy?
This is a wonderful shot, with beautiful light on the stonework - fav!
Unless development is taking place, the bodies are often left where they were and just grassed over to make it easier to keep the area tidy. Where redevelopment is taking place, huge efforts are made to move and relocate the bodies in a very respectful way.
