I had a lovely day today with my sister in Birmingham.
The city has been going through redevelopment for a couple of years now and this area around Chamberlain Square is complete so it was nice to be able to get a photo without cranes, scaffolding and workmen in it.
This gentleman on the steps is Thomas Attwood 1783 - 1856 and he was the first member of parliament for Birmingham.
The trip was to visit the completed areas of the city centre and also for me to buy a new dress for my upcoming holiday. I dragged my poor sister round every clothes shop in the town. It was hot and sticky and we were stifling in our masks but she didn't complain once, she is so supportive and patient with me, bless her.
@onewing@pdulis@bruni His position on the stairs is almost at ground level and signifies his accessibility to everyday people which was how he lived his life.
Love the pov of this shot. Love Birmingham. I actually worked there doing a software beta for 6 weeks. It gave me plenty of time to see quite a bit of the City.
Fav. Very beautiful shot and a idyllic place to place a statue of an important person. Interesting architecture all around. Have been to Birmingham to The Bullring outlet with wife, son and daughter in law when they lived at Stoke-on-Trent, not the place I wanted to be in because I don't like shopping.
