Red House Glass Cone by pattyblue

Red House Glass Cone

Our trip along Stourbridge canal took us to the glass museum.
This cone was built in 1794 and stands 100 feet high. It finally stopped glass production in 1936. The furnace inside the cone was kept constantly burning using coal delivered by barge from the canal behind the cone.
It is one of only 4 now remaining in the UK and is due to start giving glass blowing demonstrations from April this year.
It was fascinating to look round and see the huge furnaces inside and to visit the studios and shop.
Very interesting building. I love the cone! Can you buy glass blown there?
