We went to New Hall country park today and walked through this boggy area with a raised boardwalk.
As we passed through we heard unusual bird calls and couldn't figure out what they were.
I was concentrating on trying to capture the details on the boards and I hadn't even noticed my sister had stopped dead and was looking at a pair of green parrots.
Now I know this may not be exciting to most of you but it's the first time we've seen them here so it was a big deal to us. My sister knew they were in the south of the UK but how great that they are now in the Midlands!
I hadn't realised she was in my shot but I'm so glad that she was as it's a great memory for us of this exciting moment.
A beautifully composed shot and lovely light - fav! It comes as a surprise to see parrots in the wild in this country. I have seen a lot when out walking by the Thames in Richmond with my daughter. I was curious about the names on the walkway. Do you know what their significance is?
