Woodland Path

Apart from some commenting, I've been having a 365 break of late. My enthusiasm for photography, it seems, took a bit a vacation and left me at home wondering what the hell was going on. In fact, I haven't so much as looked at my camera since the end of October when all the pumpkins and Halloween decorations were taken down and stored safely away for another year. I've pretty much missed all the beautiful autumn colours you guys have been photographing and sharing on here too. Your images have been terrific. But I have to say that it's been nice walking around the woods with my boys in the mornings and not having to worry about having my camera with me in case I miss the perfect shot. The truth is, with the shorter days (as much as I love them), I find getting out with my camera at this time of year a much harder thing to do, as I'm sure some of you do, too. I struggled this time last year, too, though perhaps not as bad as I'm struggling this year. But my lack of photographing hasn't stopped me from noticing how and where the light has been falling, and how beautiful and golden the leaves have been turning during those long morning dog walks around my local woods; some things don't change, and I'm thankful for that, because, to stop noticing would mean my love of photography was in some kind of trouble and I'm not prepared to go down that particular road. So today, I ventured out with my camera (the battery was almost dead, my camera has been left so long) and I managed to grab a couple of shots of my local wood. Only a couple, but it's a start. I'm not going to posting every day for a while yet - I think it's safe to say my second year has been a posting disaster! - though I will continue to keep commenting as and when I can. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I hadn't been eaten up by a goblin as Caterina suggested on my last post, and I apologise for rambling on. This is for me more than anything. I've just been taking a break for now :)
Welcome back Paul. We missed you. I think the problem is that your latest pictures were so good that you felt difficult to stay up to your standards! Well enjoy your kids and your woods. We'll keep an eye on you!By the way this photo is fantastic. Fav

Beautiful fall capture. I get like that sometimes, too, Paul, and think I should take a break but then I keep getting shots and I figure if I have them I should use them. I'm trying to cut back but and not do it every day and I'm a little successful with that but not always. I think I'm addicted to photography. LOL

A beautiful looking trail which certainly led to a nice little adventure. I can say that my photo muse sometimes leaves my side as well - especially with the fall change to shorter days - but she always returns. When I just feel like sitting on the recliner I know it is time to get up and find something to photograph and photo banks are especially useful on some days. Hang in there and keep doing great shots Paul!

Beautiful lead into the woods. Life sometimes gets in the way and we have to accept that. Good to see that you have been out and enjoying what remains of the autumn. 365 is yours to do as you please and if ,when it's goof, it's good, and when it gets in the way , it gets in the way, then that's how it is just good to see your lovely photos when you are up to it.

Ah Paul, this is such a gorgeous shot, you definitely still have the eye and the flair. I struggle too and end up with big gaps in my project, especially in December. I've been trying to keep up posting but the commenting has really taken a dive. Just do what you can - unless you're retired or live and breathe 365, it's so hard to keep active with it when life gets busy, especially with kids. Just post when you can - we always enjoy what you come up with, and most definitely keep seeing the beauty in everything! And we still need to see your daughter in a santa hat, she'll pose beautifully! :-) Fav by the way.

It’s your project buddy. Post when you want, when you can, what you want.

I don’t feel it’s taken over my life (yet) so will be plodding on.

Great capture by the way of this beautiful Autumn scene.

Ahh nice to see you back Paul, even if it will be now and again. Take care of yourself and the family in the meantime, and stay away from the goblins :)

Lovely spot for a walk! I've been where you are - after doing 365 for five years, I took a break - thought it was for good, but the pull of my fellow photographers called me back. I also found that I never stopped noticing things that would make a lovely shot, even tho my camera was left at home. Guess that photo mojo comes and goes. Relax and enjoy it!

Stunning woodland view. I now exactly how you feel. My camera has not been out much either .I grab an image on my phone when I can but the weather ,work and life get in the way this time of year. Your mojo will return just bide your time

A beautiful shot. It is more difficult at this time of year. I’m having trouble keeping up with comments & I’m way behind with my thank you. Time seems to be a bit short at the moment. So I understand how you feel.

I can't add a thing to what others have said - everyone is so eloquent. I love your photography and will love seeing anything you post anytime you are ready. This image is a stunner! Makes me want to wander down that path just enjoying the color. Fav.

Good to hear you are still live and kicking Paul. Just post when you can or want to, it is your project and your rules. We all get in a slump and 365 does take up a lot of our time. I think I may cut back a bit next year as I have lots of other projects I want to do. One main project is to scan all my old photos of relatives way back to when Noah was a lad and put them all in a photo book to pass on to my daughter and grandchildren. That will take up a lot of my time. I also put together a photo book of my 365 photos too, so I may not surface for a while.
good to see you can still get out and about even though the weather is getting colder. This looks like a beautiful place for a walk.
November 15th, 2017
I don't think you need to post every day anyway Paul - as long as you continue to enjoy the beauty around you and now again post a terrific shot or two, then we'll forgive you 😊
November 15th, 2017
Firstly a nice picture, lovely autumn colours and leading line.
Secondly I think we all struggle at times, but as several people have said, it's your project, so post when your hearts in it (or even close to it 🙂).
Thirdly your kind comments are always welcome and appreciated. 🙂

Nice to see you back Paul, take a break and don't feel guilty, we enjoy your photos but your family comes first!
Great fall shot!

Creativity is not forced idea. It is in this that there is joy. rest my friend. but I'm waiting for your comments on my photos )))) and I am very glad that nobody has gotten you! this is a great news !!!

A very nice picture and a wonderful place for walks! Certainly your children also enjoyed the autumn leaves and their warm tones. Nature is still the most beautiful source of inspiration.

And your artistic break - that's part of life: phases in which you collect and organize your thoughts. Nobody has to apologize for that. It's good as it is good for you.
And you enjoy the play of light and shadow, the variety and beauty of colours and shapes. And with this affection comes the desire to capture the moment and shape it in the picture. I wish you very much that this will continue to be fulfilling. It's nice to see with your pictures what you have seen; if we can participate in what is important to you. It is an enrichment for us all.

Some things do not change... I also need such anchors.

HI there. I was on a break too. I have realized that I need photography as a getaway, maybe even therapy, because without it I end up being swallowed by normal life and must does... With 365 it seems photography climbs up on the list of priorities which works very good for me... So I came back sooner then I thought and with no idea about what am I gonna photograph during winter.... Great autumnal scene.... And if you want to know I like your photos very much!
November 21st, 2017
Beautiful autumn colours in this scene....the great thing about 365 is that we all have our moments of busy or wayward phojo when we fade in and out but the community is fine with that and here with open arms when we return.....
November 23rd, 2017
I think we all feel a bit like this when our project finishes. I remember back in 2012 that I finished my 365 and ended up hating my camera! Took a while to get back into it. So just do you. With no pressure to take a photo it'll probably be more enjoyable.
