Noticed this narrow boat entering the Brighouse basin marina flying the Australian flag shouted across he was a long way from home he said he was on holiday with his wife and lived in Ascot, Brisbane
@dide Thank you for your comment Dianne, who knows who you'll meet on the canal I would not have expected to find an Australian on a narrow boat holiday :)
@quietpurplehaze Thank you for your comment and Fav, I was standing on a bridge over the canal to take this shot, had to run down the towpath to have a word with him:)
@peterlgrave Thank Peter the design dates back a long way, British Inland Waterways, "narrow boat" refers to the original working boats built in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries for carrying goods on the narrow canals (where locks and bridge holes would have a minimum width of 7 feet (2.13 m); all the modern "narrowboats" are used for recreation and more and more as homes, whose design and dimensions are an interpretation of the old boats for modern purposes and modern materials:)
