Another entry in this week theme Up, looking up from the Brighouse canal to the climbing wall fixed on an old flour mill, a climb not for the faint-hearted.
Wow, that never used to be there. Thankfully! My parents were both rock climbers and I remember being stuck on the climbing wall at Huddersfield sports centre, refusing to move.
@yorkshirekiwi Thank you for your comment Carole, there's an indoor climbing area that's been in use six years, this outdoor one was only installed this time last year, its 140 feet to the highest part and there are 25 routes to the top:)
@onewing Well I have not seen anyone personally Babs ( would have posted an image before now) BBC filmed people using it and I did see that, will make a point of getting a shot with people on it in the summer:))
Goodness, gives me vertigo to look at it. I did some rock climbing in my youth, but I could never cope with such a sheer face. Great entry for the 'up' theme
Holy cow, they use that as climbing wall!?!? For sure it is not for the faint of heart! Nice application of the up theme. I like the little splash of red too - were you going for the February theme? ;)
@suesouthwood Sorry Sue missed your comment, I will try to get a shot of people climbing the wall in the summer, Like you I used to climb and abseil in the Peaks and Lake District manly, but its not for me now:)
@stray_shooter Thank you for your comment Ron, I used to work at height and when I was a young engineer found heights a challenge until an old engineer explained "falling from anything over 30 feet has the same outcome" very reassuring, lol:)
