What I'd give to live where I could so easily visit old mansions like this! We do have plans to see the Hearst Castle (up the coast) in a couple of weeks (and it's a treasure for sure!) but it's the only place of note, and Hearst was inspired by the old castles of Europe!
@Weezilou We have lots of wonderful old buildings in the UK that we can walk around, I was born near Lincoln in Lincolnshire and it has places dating back to the Roman invasion almost 2,000 years ago, hope they are successful in saving Hearst Castle for the future generation:)
@pcoulson Oh, baring something catastrophic, it's being well cared for and is on the National Historic Registry! It truly is an amazing museum that, like yours, was once a home, albeit a weekend getaway!
@onewing Thank you for your comment Babs, as I said before I can check that out to see which noble house you bear allegiance to and send an image of your coat of arms if you like, lol, I know I'm from farm worker stock, in fact a person of little consequence :)
