An old birthday postcard from my grandma to her then boyfriend post stamped 17th June 1908, this was the only way in their day to communicated either by post card or letter, Charlotte was working in service as a maid in a large house in Lincoln, Henry was working as an apprentice gardener for Landowner William Henry Morton at Harmston Hall about 8 miles away. they married in 1915 and the rest is history.
@louannwarren Thank you so much for your lovely comment Lou Ann, my grandmother kept lots of postcards in a large album this was passed on to my mother and them me, because I loved looking at the album as a child.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thank you for your comment Jackie I have catalogued all grandmothers postcards and recorded the messages written on them, makes some interesting reading:)
@onewing Thank you Babs, It would appear they grow up as children in the same village then at a very early age both left the village to start work, they kept in touch by postcard and letter until Charlotte got a job as a maid at Harmston Hall and a little time later they married, 12 years after the first postcards were posted:)
