Still in the Niagara Region, we pass this sunken treasure traveling on the QEW from Toronto to Niagara Falls. It is an abandoned ship called the “Pirate Ship”, or “Ghost Ship” but its real name is La Grande Hermine, and it is a replica of one of the 3 ships that Jacques Cartier used when exploring the St. Lawrence river back in 1535. This abandoned ship came to Jordan Harbour in 1997 with the intention of being turned into another restaurant or a gambling venue, but in January of 2003, it became the victim of an arson fire. So here she sits - a photographic gem.

The clouds are great. I find myself wondering if I would have liked it better if the foreground rocks weren’t so sharp. Since they are brighter than the boat and at least equally sharp, my eye goes to them rather than the boat. Just thinking out loud
Oh, it really does stand out on black. Personally, I think the darker foreground lines leading to the trees on the left, and then along the wall of rocks behind, form a encircling frame around the boat and bring attention to it, rather than distracting from it. Fav for sure.
Beautifully captured image! I can feel the chill in the air with the way you've framed the shot and captured the ice along with the ship. I think the composition works very well to convey the setting and I love the stark contrasts.
Wonderful that they use the shipwrecks for ventures
though I agree, photography gem is best
