River Medway Series - 7

Our next stop along the River Medway is Yalding. Yes, there is a quaint 14th century bridge, and village, but you have seen plenty of those already.

During the 1930's a series of weirs were introduced to the River to control flooding which had hit the Medway flood plain regularly, damaging farms and communities across mid-Kent. The weirs were designed to be functional rather than aesthetic, so I thought I would try and catch the two aspects in this image from Yalding.

The composition gives a good understanding of the place and I always like to learn new words in english. Thank you google translate, now I know what a weir is.

@ingajohansson Inga, it's one of the confusing 'exceptions' in English, as the 'e' is placed before the 'i', whereas normally it is the other way around, unless there is a 'c' involved. Don't ask... 🙄

I like the contrast of sharp angled human intervention and the tree lined river bank beyond. A nice shot.

Lots of interesting bits to look at, along with all those angles.

I like the colours in the foreground in almost an abstract pattern and then the realistic scene in the background.
