Another travelling day, this is a Class 390 Pendolino - the infamous tilting train which 'leans into' the bends to allow higher speeds on standard tracks. As a passenger, I have to say that whilst I admire the technology, I am not a fan of the ride. I usually leave the train feeling like I have been in a daily wash cycle in the washing machine.
@judithdeacon Judith, as far as I know they are exclusive to Virgin Trains on the West Coast mainline. And yes, I often have to fight the motion sickness; there aren't really any alternatives, and they are very fast (London to Preston in 2 hours).
This is an Italian project and at the beginning it was much loved because of its speed. But now is not on service anymore. I didn’t know there was still one in the UK. Nice picture. Fav
A nice shot of Preston station and the Pendolino. I've only had a couple of rides on these (wrong side of the country), but I didn't find the tilting a problem, but I do dislike the poor / non existent views from some windows because of the wide spacing between them. For me this shot is a fav!
By the way, deep in the archive, I've got a shot of Pendolino in Geneva on a service to Italy.
A very bright and colourful railway station, like the way that man is looking at you, almost as if he is re-thinking the need to ride the train.
Pendolino, sounds like the future trains, but if they are already not using them in the country that made them .... makes one wonder what the future ones will be like
Like your shot!
