Beach lighthouse by peadar

Beach lighthouse

Following yesterday's shot at Skippool Creek, I thought I would head north a little to find the more modern port that had supplanted it as the main cargo terminal for the Fylde Coast area - Fleetwood. I was surprised to find a system of lighthouses that were built in the 1840's to guide shipping into the River Wyre estuary. The first of these is this lighthouse, situated almost on the beach, and therefore called the Beach or Lower lighthouse. I'll go back to catch the other lighthouses at some point. They were all positioned to give shipping the triangulation points to help them navigate the estuary, without recourse to other landmarks.

Many thanks for all of your recent comments; all appreciated very much.

Nice POV for your shot. Is that a UFO hovering above the radar? 😏

What an interesting photo. The 1940's structure is in such contrast to the modern section beside it. I like your POV with the grass tying the scene together. :)
